How to read GPU specs
What the important specs actually mean
| Spec | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| VRAM | Controls how much texture, model, game and AI data can fit on the card. It matters for newer games, local AI and creator workloads. |
| Memory type and bus | GDDR7, GDDR6X, GDDR6 and GDDR5 behave differently. Bus width affects bandwidth, especially at high resolutions. |
| CUDA / stream processors | Useful for comparing cards inside the same architecture, but not enough by itself across generations. |
| Board power | Affects PSU requirements, heat, fan noise and whether the card makes sense in a small case. |
| Feature level | DLSS, FSR, ray tracing generation, AV1 encoding and PCIe version can matter more than raw FPS for some users. |
