How to read CPU specs
Specs that matter before buying used
| Spec | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Socket | Determines motherboard compatibility. AM4, AM5, LGA1700 and LGA1851 are not interchangeable. |
| Cores / threads | Useful for productivity and multitasking, but game performance also depends on cache and architecture. |
| L3 cache | Especially important on X3D gaming CPUs where large cache can improve gaming performance. |
| TDP and turbo power | Affects cooling, motherboard VRM requirements and how much performance the chip can sustain. |
| Memory platform | DDR4 and DDR5 change total platform cost. LGA1700 can use either depending on motherboard. |
